A Class B transponder requires a dedicated GPS antenna as well as an appropriate VHF antenna or VHF antenna splitter (all AIS Class B transponders must have their own GPS antennas and cannot use an antenna already in use). The GV30 is a VHF and GPS antenna with two 10m cables. It has a standard 1' threaded base for easy mounting on a variety of brackets. The antenna is not supplied with the mounting bracket.
The 10m coaxial cables are terminated with a mini FME connector which allows the cables to be fed through easily as the connector is just 5mm larger than the cable. We also supply the appropriate TNC and BNC adaptors for our transponders.
The GV30 measures just 190mm high and 75mm in diameter. Despite its compact dimensions, the antenna offers very good performance since it is specifically tuned to 162 MHz (which is the AIS frequency).
