Principle of operation of the fixed light: 

• The spring is in permanent contact with the bulb base and the positive terminal of the batteries.
• The wire is in permanent contact with the bulb socket.
• At rest, the weight of the batteries compresses the spring and breaks contact with the negative terminal of the batteries and the wire.
• When the fire is thrown into the water, the geometry of the fire causes it to automatically position itself vertically.
• The batteries then slide into the tube, and come into contact with the wire that powers the bulb.
